My personal opinion is that working out with weights is one of the best ways to burn fat and lose weight. There are not only benefits during workout but also after. Once you start building your muscle you also start increasing your resting metabolic rate. Muscle needs more energy during the day to maintain itself. That means that you actually end up burning more calories than you would have with less muscles!
Don’t worry about over-doing it with weight training either. To effectively build muscle you do need to push heavier weights and steadily increase this.
Obviously another benefit of weight training for me is the de-stress effect it has. Nothing quite like pumping some iron after a long day in the office. You always feel better afterwards, even if you didn’t feel like working out in the first place.
