Diwali is a great time for the entire family to come together and make homemade sweets and snacks, it helps to build stronger bonds between family members and its a great way to make food/sweets from scratch that are healthier and tastier, compared to sweets from mithai shops. So, this Diwali make this soft ghee mysore pak and enjoy with family and friends.
Using desi ghee will help to bring down the GI of the sweets, so make sure you use ghee and avoid oil.
There is nothing better than homemade sweets, and it is not that difficult to make home. Homemade sweets are guilt free and made with healthy ingredients.
I used 250 ML measuring cups
NOTE THAT RAW SUGAR HAS SLIGHTLY LESS SWEETNESS THAN ORDINARY SUGAR
Work quickly when you are making this as this is an easy recipe and everything will come together very fast, once you see the mysore pak leaving the sides of the pan, turn off the heat and transfer to the greased plate. If you keep it longer in the pan, the mysore pak will turn hard…so for a soft texture, you need to remove it as soon as it starts to leave the sides of the pan and is still in liquid stage.
1/2 cup besan (chickpea flour)
3/4 cup raw sugar (you can increase to 1 cup if you prefer more sweetness, if you cannot find cane sugar then use ordinary sugar – but I will give a link below for an organic sugar)
2/3 cup ghee (clarified butter)
1/4 cup water (since I am using very little water, it will come to 1 string consistency very quickly, so keep and eye on it).
